Dear Friend,
Creativity knows know boundaries, and art is free to inspire and engage.
But
Creativity has been commodified.
It’s sad to see when a great artist has the joy sucked out of their art while they struggle to eat.
The pursuit of profit comes at the expense of artistic integrity and expression.
It’s because there are people who want to ruin it all.
Just for a little bit of profit.
We won’t let them.
That’s why I’m starting Approaching Utopia, a record label (and more) focused on Creative Commons and DRM-Free releases.
Join me in embracing a future where artists are empowered, and creative works across various media forms are accessible to all through Creative Commons licensing and DRM-free distribution.
This album is a compilation album of music I’ve already made, under various names.
The goal is to raise $50,000.
This will pay off some outstanding debts I have, including personal investments in the label as well as back taxes.
It should also provide me enough to sign my first (non-Me) artist so that I can lift up others.
